Reading Journal: Game Design Workshop-Week 1, 2019 Fall

For this week's reading, the book Game Design Work shop talks about some fundemental knowledge and method for becoming a game designer and designing a game. What really intertested me in the reading is when the author talks about how to keep yourself passionate on your project within the long production process of a project. I had a project last year which took a month to produce, since the project had involve with some concept we have never practiced before, the pressure I got from making that game is more than the pressure I had from working on my others projects. I got exhausted during the process like what the author said in that part of the chapter, and was looking for a way to help myself during the time. And that why I was interested what the book will offer me in that chapter. However, the book didn't gave me a set solution for the problem but I'm totally understand the reason why it doen't do this. It's a very personal topic when comes to pressure management and eveyone do it in their own way. So instead of showing me a way of dealing with pressure and keep my passion focus on my porject, the author provides me some professional advises on game production such as teamworks, communications, and how to handle critisism. I hope I can develop a strong mind as a developer through my future projects, and what I've really learn from thie section of the chapter is that this is a challenge that everyboday have to face when making a game. And all I have to do is to find my way to handle it.

Cahpter 6 and 9 talks more into brainstorms and team works, and although we've learn the things the book talks about in previous pratices and experiences, it is good to review on them after a 3 month break. Our first project for this semister is a group project working on a borad game, it is important to review the important parts about team works such as communication and making compromises inorder for us to deliver the project in its finest(or relativly) state.
