Playtest Notes (1/23/20)

Observations:

  • The game is best played with a mouse. The track pad made it quite difficult to play.
  • The only way for the player to know the correct order of the images is to guess until they are correct and win.
  • The players seemed to confuse some of the sprites with each other.
  • The sprites overlap.
  • The difficulty level seemed suitable for the 10-second time limit

Feedbacks:

  • It is hard to know what the correct order is, so maybe displaying the correct order of the images somewhere else in the game would be good.
  • The game is quite difficult
  • The sprites for the middle stages look too similiar that it's confusing.
  • Maybe add a snapping mechanic to the pictures when they are placed in the correct spot.
  • Maybe organized the initial pictures into a row (but randomized the order) so the gameplay becomes easier.

Response:

  • A snapping mechanic is added when the pictures are placed in their correct slots.
  • A starting countdown is added, which shows the correct order so that the player can look at it and memorize before the actual gameplay. In addition, the correct sequence example is used in the game's logo as well as in the gameover screen.
  • The sprites are changed into a newer version which looks less familiar to each other.
  • Instead of spawning the images all over the screen, we moved the images so that they only spawn above the stages. This way, the player only have to do one direction of movement instead of the up direction and down direction.
